Filming Opportunities
The banded mongooses of Mweya live in a dramatic natural habitat and offer unparalleled opportunities for wildlife filmmakers. The Mweya mongooses have featured in numerous wildlife documentaries, including a four hour dedicated BBC TV series called ‘Banded Brothers: The Mongoose Mob’ (2010). Other BBC TV series that have featured our study population include the BBC Series Talking to the Animals (see https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p022mv8h) and Spy in the Wild (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmzS0MNyH9I&t). In addition we have worked with film crews for Netflix, National Geographic, Germany’s DW Wild Earth, and Japan’s NHK wildlife films.
We have long experience of working with film crews to capture the lives of these fascinating little animals at their very best.
If you are interested in filming banded mongooses please get in touch with us as a first step. We can help in approaching Uganda Wildlife Authority for permission to film, as well as providing vehicles, field assistance and logistical support. Banded mongoose filming must be approved in advance by both the Banded Mongoose Research Project and UWA. Contact us here.
